Wayne A. Wiatrowski, Ph.D., D.A.B.R., C.H.P.

Dr. Wiatrowski holds a doctorate degree in Radiological Science from the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio, Texas. He also has a master's degree in physics from the Illinois Institute of Technology in Chicago where he received his initial training in medical physics at Michael Reese Hospital and Medical Center. His undergraduate major was also in physics. Dr. Wiatrowski is Board Certified in three specialty areas: Therapeutic Radiological Physics and Diagnostic Radiological Physics by the American Board of Radiology and in comprehensive Health Physics by the American Board of Health Physics.

Dr. Wiatrowski has over twenty five years of experience obtained at major medical centers in clinical medical physics. He has substantial clinical physics experience in both radiation oncology and diagnostic radiology. In addition to experience in external beam radiotherapy, low dose rate and high dose rate brachytherapy, Dr. Wiatrowski is also experienced in intravascular brachytherapy. He serves as a Radiation Safety Officer on a broad scope license with active involvement in the research of human use of radiation sources. He holds an academic appointment as a Clinical Associate Professor of Radiology at the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio and has been an active participant, providing lectures to residents as well as graduate students in the radiological sciences.

Appointed by then Governor Ann Richards of Texas, Dr. Wiatrowski was a member of the first state professional licensing board for medical physicists in the United States. He served on the board from its inception until 1998.  He has recently been appointed to the Medical Radiographic Technologist Advisory Committee of the Texas Department of Health.

James J. Prete, Ph.D., D.A.B.R.

James J. Prete graduated from the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio in 1999 with a Ph.D. in Radiological Physics. He is also a graduate of the Medical Physics program at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, having earned both his B.S. and M.S. Degrees there in 1987 and 1988.

Dr. Prete was Certified by the American Board of Radiology in 1992 in the specialty of Therapeutic Radiological Physics. He is licensed by the State of Texas to practice both Therapeutic and Diagnostic Radiological Physics. Dr. Prete has extensive clinical experience from working at such research facilities as the Cancer Therapy and Research Center in San Antonio, Wilford Hall USAF Medical Center, and Brooke Army Medical Center. His current research interests reside in the area of permanent prostate brachytherapy physics. Dr. Prete has published in journals such as Medical Physics, International Journal of Radiation Oncology Biology Physics, and Radiation Oncology Investigations. In addition, he has presented work at national meetings of the American Association of Physicists in Medicine, American Society for Therapeutic Radiology and Oncology, and the American Brachytherapy Society.

Dr. Prete is currently an Associate Professor at University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio and sits on the Reviewer Committee.  Professional memberships include: American College of Radiology, the American Association of Physicists in Medicine, the Southwest Chapter of the AAPM, the American Society for Therapeutic Radiology and Oncology, and the American Brachytherapy Society.

Louis B. Levy, Ph.D., F.A.C.R., F.A.A.P.M.

Dr. Lou Levy is RPA's senior medical physicist, having over 30 years experience. After graduating from Southern University at Baton Rouge, Louisiana in 1956, he went on to distinguish himself as a Colonel in the United States Army, Medical Command during which time he helped to establish the Radiation Therapy Service at Brooke Army Medical Center, Fort Sam Houston, Texas. His military career continued until 1980 when he retired after 24 years of service. Meanwhile, in 1962 Dr. Levy earned a Master of Science degree in Radiation Biophysics from the University of Rochester in New York and completed his formal education in 1974 at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio,Texas earning a Doctor of Philosophy in Biophysics. Dr. Levy's residency in Radiological Physics was at Walter Reed Army Medical Center, Washington, D.C.

Dr. Levy is the founder of Radiological Physics Associates, L.L.P. He is certified in Radiological Physics by the American Board of Radiology and in Radiation Oncology Physics by the American Board of Medical Physics. In 1991 Dr. Levy was made a Fellow in the American College of Radiology in recognition of his application of radiological physics to the practice of radiation oncology, his work in applied physics research, his activities as a physics teacher for graduate students and radiology residents and his leadership in radiological organizations. In 2000 Dr. Levy was made a Fellow in the American Association of Physicists in Medicine in recognition of his distinguished contributions to medical physics by the association.

Professional memberships include: American Association of Physicists in Medicine, Southwest Regional Chapter of the American Association of Physicists in Medicine, Health Physics Society, American College of Medical Physics, American College of Radiology, and the Texas Radiological Society.

In March of 1998 then Gov.. George W. Bush appointed Dr. Levy to serve on the Texas Board of Licensure for Professional Medical Physicists, and in 2000 he was designated as presiding officer of this board, a position he currently maintains.
